Healthcare Copywriter
Principal role:
To work alongside clients and the team to produce medical copy for creative, promotional, and marketing purposes. This includes a wide range of audiences, including KOLs, HCPs and Patients.
To research medical data from reliable sources, extract and distil the relevant information, and work alongside Creative Copywriters and Designers to marry the science and creative idea seamlessly, while creating impactful, engaging, concise messaging that is both medically precise, grammatically accurate and fully compliant with relevant codes of practice.

General administration:
In conjunction with the Medical, Creative and Client Services teams to ensure that the following processes are followed in an organised and timely manner:
- Construct accurate and fully marked-up reference packs
- Upload jobs and anchor references to Veeva PromoMats
- Adhere to project-specific style guides and update them when necessary
- Maintain version control when updating documents
- Daily completion of timesheets

Core competencies:
Medical writing and creative
- Preparation of copy in response to briefs, in a timely fashion and to a high level of accuracy
- Contribution to creative concepts for new campaigns and pitches by bridging the complex scientific knowledge to the creative team
- Ensure the creative copy and concept is underpinned with factual scientific claims, data and references
- Work closely with Client Services to develop scientifically accurate briefs
- Ensure the highest level of accuracy for wording and references
- Good communication with colleagues in the Medical, Creative and Client Services Departments to ensure work is implemented on time and to the quality required
- Proofreading and checking of copy content generated by self and colleagues
- Ensure that all written copy is referenced to the highest standard and is compliant with the ABPI code of practice
- Adding jobs to Veeva PromoMats and managing their progress through to final approval
- Close liaison with the Head of Copyto receive training and mentoring on all aspects of medical writing
- Attendance at production meetings to review workload and receive preliminary instructions on allocated jobs
- Participate in, and contribute actively to, client meetings when required
- Attendance at external training sessions when appropriate
- Occasional submission of blog articles, proactively and in response to internal requests
- Carry out proactive research during “down time” to improve knowledge of brands, ABPI and other industry guidelines as part of personal training and continuing professional development
Team Responsibility
- Demonstrate team-player attitude, developing and maintaining excellent relationships with internal departments
- Participation in creative/brainstorming sessions when required
- Collaboration with design colleagues to execute jobs to a high standard
- Regular communication with the Head of Copyand Client Services team regarding work progress and any relevant issues that may arise
