Innovations and Insight Manager

A brilliant new opportunity has just come up for an Innovation and Insight Manager for a company who are the leaders in the provision of tea and coffee solutions to the foodservice and retail sectors.
 
Purpose of the role:
 
To become the category expert in Eats and Drinks. To understand the trends in the retail impulse market, how this is relevant to our customers and how we can help our customers maximise their sales in this area. To improve internal and external knowledge of the retail lines we sell through story -telling, linking to insight and range categorisation. The role will also look at daypart planogram and ranging planograms along with merchandising and point of sale solutions to raise awareness, understanding and uptake of the products at site level.
This role is pivotal in building relationships with our suppliers to ensure we receive relevant insight from them, that we are the first to learn about NPD and that our internal product knowledge is best in class.
The role is responsible for managing and developing promotional activity with key accounts and with our suppliers.  The role works closely with The Head of Procurement, the marketing and graphics team and the sales team.
Within the role there will be the opportunity to manage and develop projects with key accounts and projects that support cross functional working internally.
The role reports in to the Head of Marketing and sits within the Marketing and Design Team.
 
Projects:

  • Develop market insight presentation Eats & Drinks. What are the key trends on the high street and in the out-of-home market?
  • Utilise insight from our suppliers
  • Use insight to ensure our range is relevant to potential customers
  • Identify gaps in our range
  • Presentation to be updated regularly and presented to the sales team.
 
 
Ranging:
 
  • Review of the their range of products. Current range to be categorised in to sub categories that reflects the insight presentation and shows our customers how relevant their range is.
  • Ensure all information relating to the products they sell/ are reviewing is stored in one place on the shared drive so the relevant team can access this
  • Ranging presentation with subcategory recommendations to be complete
  • Give thought to how this could be used in the brochure
  •  
Quarterly Product Update:
 
  • Using the existing document template (which can be amended / changed if preferred) update the document/ create a version for  2018.
  • Schedule in to create this document every 3 months or as required by the business
  • Collect text on the new products and product images/ presentations from the suppliers
 
Monthly Case Deals:
 
  • Work with the Head of Marketing  to issue monthly case deals
  • Moving forward develop a system that communicates these deals and ensures maximum uptake
  • Create an annual calendar with input from suppliers that shows which deals are supported by suppliers and when. Leave spaces for promos that support NPD
  • Create a system with Head of Purchasing for easy invoicing
                                                                               
Build on the current account specific promotions:
 
  • Ensure all activity is planned and logged and relevant people are aware of it so sales can be maximised
  • Develop a system for analysing the effect of the promotion and ensuring we recover stock/ costs from suppliers quickly
  • Manage The Source advertising / articles
 
One World Bakery:
 
  • Work with Senior Designer on packaging rebrand. Give input. Develop story for the brand that focuses on the small family run bakeries that provide the products. Develop relaunch presentation. Develop NPD presentation that showcases our innovative sugar free lines and pipeline for the future.
                                                                                               
Restaurant Associate Hero Products:
 
  • Work with Head of Marketing to keep a list of previous and future RA Hero products. Liaise with RA Hero suppliers to brief in point of sale with graphics to circulate to RA team, brief supplier on sampling activity within RA.
 
 
Management and Development of EatFair Project with Compass Group:
 
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to develop a new range of branded Eatfair lines that feature the work completed in task 6. Be the project lead for this project and develop ideas around the work to be done to develop projects at origin in cocoa communities. Ensure Compass have up to date relevant information on the project so that they can launch it to their business in Fairtrade Fortnight.
 
Product Sourcing:
 
  • Develop an eye for sourcing innovative and new products that could work in our business and stay on top of the market trends.
  • Build up a regular base of knowledge of how and where to source these products
  • Develop with the Head of Purchasing a process for capturing, sharing information and deciding how to launch new products in the business
                                                                               
 
Social Media and Website:
 
As this area of our business improves and develops to own this category work by using social media and the web to promote new product lines, brand stories and ad hoc competition/ insight sharing etc
